The 2027 Equinox uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four rated at 175 horsepower and up to 203 lb-ft, now with an 8-speed automatic on front-drive and all-wheel-drive models alike. The EPA rates it at 25/29/27 mpg with front-wheel drive and 25/29/26 with AWD, which matches the 2026 Mazda CX-5 on combined economy once both have AWD. Both SUVs tow up to 1,500 pounds when properly equipped.
