Choose the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus and output climbs to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft on 93-octane premium, or 227 horsepower on regular 87. Front-drive sedans carry EPA ratings of 27 city, 36 highway and 30 combined, the AWD Carbon Edition earns 29 combined and the Turbo 27, and G-Vectoring Control Plus comes on every trim.

The gas Corolla LE, SE and XSE share a 2.0-liter four rated at 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft, driving the front wheels through a CVT, and the EPA rates the gas sedan at up to 35 mpg combined. The Hybrid LE, SE and XLE use a 1.8-liter system with 138 net horsepower and up to 50 mpg combined, and the Hybrid LE and SE are the Corollas that offer AWD. In the Mazda, all-wheel drive is paired with both engines, including the turbo.
